• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients, addressing their AV needs promptly and professionally, while diligently supporting an open-door service policy, to ensure client accessibility.
• Equipment Installation, Operation and Maintenance: Assist technicians with the installation, operation and maintenance of audio-visual equipment, including projectors, large monitors, video surveillance, video conferencing, as well as audio, video and control systems. This position may be called upon to routinely provide in class support to program areas for the effective continuance of on-site educational delivery and in specific distance learning or remote teaching applications.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AV equipment and systems during events or presentations.
• Remote Monitoring: Assistants will regularly monitor several cloud-based applications used across the Institution such as Zoom Rooms, Active Learning Classrooms, Avigilon Video Surveillance, Epiphan Go, Viewsonic and Sennheiser Cockpit.
• Equipment Inventory: Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, tracking its condition, and ensuring that it is up-to-date and in good working order. Currently working within Abacus to expand enterprise-wide management level tracking and efficiencies as well as monitoring efficiencies of expenditures. Currently over pieces with an approximate value of greater than 5 million dollars.
• Equipment Loan System: Manage a local equipment loan inventory of AV products available for use by faculty and students, using Lend-Items.
• Classroom Computer Installation: Assist technicians with the installation and configuration of all classroom Instructor desktop computers
• Administrative duties to support AV Services Generating and maintaining reporting activities, circulation of department communications, requires a good working knowledge of Office tools and in some cases a more advanced knowledge of these applications. Reconcile credit card statements and create expenditure reports. Support AV Techs with any admin duties and projects. Create manuals for new procedures and maintain up to date versions of those manuals. Maintaining site content for AV/Media Support Page and Tech report entry system. Maintaining the online lending systems for AV equipment and assisting the techs with logistics of the program or entry of items lent/returned. Maintenance and distribution of department files and online filing system. Assist in tracking shipments and expenses related to Audio Visual Purchases.
• Zoom Support: (Video Conferencing) Assist Faculty with in person support in the delivery of classes via a Zoom Room and adjust to varying instructional styles of individual instructors and program requirements.
• Documentation: Keep records and documentation of AV configurations, troubleshooting steps, tech reporting and maintenance schedules
• Tech Reports: using a LT SharePoint site, this position is also responsible for keeping up to date technical duty reports as performed.
• Quality Control: Ensure the quality of audio and video during presentations or events, adjusting as needed to optimize the experience. Also ensures standardization of installations by utilizing standard products and installation methods for overall safety and user experience.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure that AV setups and installations comply with safety regulations and standards, especially in public spaces.
• User Training: Train users or clients on how to operate AV equipment and systems effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

• Post Secondary Certificate in Business Administration and/or formal education related to the audio visual industry.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a technical support or AV Service industry, including audio and video industry relevant skills as required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of educational AV systems.
• Demonstrated Knowledge of Video Conference Equipment and methods (Zoom/Teams/Webex).
• Demonstrated Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Outlook).
• Effective Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 16kg (35 pounds).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with many diverse groups, including other departments within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, staff, faculty, and industry stakeholders.
• Demonstrates understanding and valuing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
