Our client is a well-established civil contractor specializing in municipal underground utility and infrastructure projects throughout the Lower Mainland. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and civil infrastructure projects, they are seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a project management professional who enjoys leading projects from award through completion while working closely with field operations, municipalities, consultants, and clients.
The Opportunity
As the Civil Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of municipal underground utility and infrastructure projects. You'll oversee all phases of project execution, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working alongside Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and clients, you'll play a key role in driving project performance while maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage civil infrastructure projects from contract award through closeout.
- Lead project planning, scheduling, execution, and overall project delivery.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and work plans.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contracts.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Partner closely with Superintendents and Foremen to ensure efficient field execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, consultants, owners, and inspectors.
- Administer contracts, progress claims, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks before they impact schedule or budget.
- Ensure projects comply with company quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Support successful project turnover and closeout activities.
Qualifications
- 3–4+ years of Project Management experience within civil construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing municipal underground utility projects.
- Strong understanding of:
- Watermain infrastructure
- Sanitary sewer systems
- Storm sewer systems
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and project financials.
- Working knowledge of MMCD contracts and municipal specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and field teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- P.Eng., EIT, or C.Tech. designation is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
