Hamilton LRT Civil & Utilities Alliance has been selected by Metrolinx as the development partner for the Hamilton LRT Civil & Utilities Works project in Ontario. Under the alliance, Aecon is the construction partner responsible for project delivery. The Hamilton LRT will bring 14 kilometres of modern, reliable, and frequent LRT service across Hamilton’s downtown core.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Electrical Design Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of design on the recently awarded
Hamilton LRT (HaLRT) project, supporting both existing and prospective utility clients. This role will oversee a team of designers and junior engineers, ensuring quality, consistency, and the timely delivery of design packages.

What You'll Do Here: - Adheres to Aecon’s Policy & Procedures Manual
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and direction to a team of designers, technicians, and junior engineers
- Assign, prioritize, and monitor design workload to ensure efficient workflow and meet project deadlines
- Provide design training and guidance to junior staff along with the Project Engineer
- Complete or review design calculations and drawings that satisfy all applicable code and regulatory requirements
- Assist in the preparation of schedules, estimates, and construction packages
- Experience with project management shall be considered an asset
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients
- Strong presentation skills, both written and oral, are considered a requirement
- Strong computer skills required – experience with AutoCAD software, MicroStation, and 3-D software an asset
- Conduct performance feedback, support professional development, and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the design team
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards across all design deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, and project management, to ensure design alignment with project goals
What You Bring to the Team: - 5 years’ experience with hydro design
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or College Diploma.Registration as an E.I.T. with the P.E.O is an asset
- Experience in engineering consulting shall be considered an asset
- Detailed experience in engineering design, permitting, and processes
- Specific technical experience with utility services construction preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred; demonstrated ability to manage and mentor technical staff is an asset
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and oversee the delivery of high-quality design outputs
- Strong computer skills required – experience with AutoCAD software and Microstation an asset
- Proven ability to take initiative and leadership
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to travel for projects
Reason for Vacancy: New The expected pay range for this role is $70,000 - 90,000 per year Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
