Job Title: Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling large, custom industrial crates and smaller corrugated boxes in a bright, clean manufacturing environment. You will work from shop drawings and saw cards to build crate components and complete assemblies using hand and power tools, ensuring accurate measurements and sturdy construction. The position involves repetitive assembly work with wood materials and offers opportunities to contribute to both large-scale special projects and ongoing production.
Responsibilities
- Assemble large custom industrial crates, typically around 10 feet long and 4 feet wide and deep, for special projects and ongoing production.
- Build crate components such as bases, lids, ends, and shelves using nail guns, impact drivers, screws, and other hand and power tools.
- Install hinges, fasteners, and other hardware to complete crate assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and follow shop drawings, saw cards, and basic blueprints to understand dimensions, materials, and assembly requirements.
- Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure all lumber and components meet specified measurements.
- Assist with cutting lumber to size using table saws and other woodworking equipment when rotating into helper duties.
- Work safely and efficiently with hand and power tools, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Handle and move materials and finished products, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and maintain a steady workflow.
- Be available for overtime when required, including occasional Saturday shifts, to support project deadlines and increased demand.
Essential Skills
- Experience working with wood, such as basic carpentry, construction, or crating.
- Hands-on experience using hand and power tools, including nail guns, impact drivers, and table saws.
- Ability to read and work from basic shop drawings, blueprints, and saw cards.
- Comfort and accuracy in using a tape measure for precise measurements.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and specifications.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive shop culture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Woodworking, including experience with lumber cutting and assembly.
- Basic understanding of carpentry principles and construction practices.
- Familiarity with industrial packaging or crate-building processes.
- Ability to interpret simple engineering drawings and layout instructions.
- Reliability and consistent attendance to qualify for attendance-related incentives.
- Willingness to rotate between assembly and helper tasks as needed.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large, bright, and clean manufacturing shop that is not unionized, with a small but growing team of approximately 18 assemblers on site and engineering and sales staff also located at the facility. The environment emphasizes strong team culture and being supportive, with regular BBQs and company events that foster a positive atmosphere. All tools needed for the job are provided, though employees may bring their own if they prefer. The day shift runs Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional Saturday overtime as needed, while the afternoon shift runs Monday to Thursday from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM. The shop focuses on industrial packaging and crate assembly, using woodworking equipment, hand tools, and power tools in a well-organized and safety-conscious setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.25/hr.
