Job description

A growing food manufacturing company is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join their team. Reporting to the Health, Safety, and Wellness Manager, this role supports various departments in driving continuous improvement in health, safety, and wellness initiatives, overseeing site expansions, wellness programs, project management, and workplace safety programs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a robust health, safety, and wellness program within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk, hazard, and ergonomic assessments and develop safety programs.
  • Design and deliver health and safety training programs.
  • Lead health, safety, and wellness projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee wellness programs to promote occupational and non-occupational health.
  • Provide workplace security oversight and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Manage WSIB claims, incident investigations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Collaborate with departments to meet health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze safety performance data and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Degree / diploma in a related field with a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • 3–5 years of health and safety experience in manufacturing or food industries.
  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB, and related legislation.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, ergonomics, and incident investigation.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Strong accountability, initiative, and the ability to lead change effectively.
