Job Title: Construction LaborerJob DescriptionThe construction laborer performs skilled labor on a commercial mid-rise construction site, supporting the project from start to finish. This role involves hands-on work with tools, site cleanup, and material handling to ensure the project progresses safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled labor tasks on a commercial and high-rise construction site to support project completion.
- Assist with daily site cleanup, including removing debris, organizing work areas, and maintaining a tidy and safe environment.
- Move, load, and unload construction materials around the site as directed.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Support concrete work and general construction activities as needed.
- Assist with basic machine operation tasks if trained and authorized, such as operating skid steers or other heavy equipment.
- Follow directions from the site supervisor and work collaboratively with other trades and team members.
- Interpret and follow instructions related to blueprints and site plans under supervision.
- Adhere to all site safety requirements, including fall protection and other safety procedures.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate tasks and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Essential Skills- At least 1 year of skilled labor experience in commercial or high-rise construction.
- Willingness to perform hands-on labor, including tool work and site cleanup.
- Experience working on construction sites with concrete and general construction activities.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Positive attitude and reliability in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, including fall protection practices.
- Comfort working on high-rise or mid-rise construction projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Skid steer ticket and experience operating skid steers or similar heavy equipment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators or other construction machinery.
- Familiarity with reading or working from blueprints under supervision.
- Experience with machine operating and general machine operation in a construction setting.
- Comfort working on high-rise or mid-rise buildings in an urban environment.

Work Environment
This role is based on a mid-rise construction project in the Burnaby Metrotown area with an expected duration of approximately three years. The standard workday runs from 7:30 . to 4:00 . for an eight-hour shift, including a 15-minute coffee break at 10:00 . and a 30-minute lunch break. You will report directly to the site superintendent and work primarily outdoors on an active construction site that may involve working at heights, around heavy equipment such as skid steers and excavators, and with concrete and other building materials. The environment requires appropriate construction attire, including personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety boots, and fall protection gear where required.
