About the job:
This is a short-term position with the potential for extension based on performance and operational needs.
As a Lab Technician, you will play an essential role in the preparation and processing of geological samples. Your tasks will include:
- Receive, organize, and prepare geological samples for crushing and analysis using a Ring Mill and other lab equipment.
- Conduct sample preparation in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all samples processed, ensuring all data is logged correctly and submitted in a timely manner.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and complies with all safety protocols.
- Follow all prescribed processes for sample preparation, including crushing and milling, and ensure all work is completed within the required timeframes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing lab processes and sample preparation efficiency.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, ensuring the safety of yourself and others in the lab setting.
Start/ End Hours- 2-2-3 rotation schedule with 12-hour shifts (alternating days and nights).
What you need:
- Valid driver’s license and access to your own transportation (required).
- Must be local to Timmins (required).
- Previous lab experience or familiarity with sample preparation, crushing, and milling techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records.
- Ability to work in an indoor, fast-paced, and sometimes physically demanding environment.
- Understanding safety procedures and protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with others in a collaborative setting.
- Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
