Job Summary

The City of Mississauga has an opportunity for a Digital Coordinator to join our Strategic Communications and Initiatives Division. Reporting to the Supervisor, Social Media & Digital Platforms the successful applicant will work collaboratively to create, edit, and publish user-focused content on various digital platforms such as social media & e-mail.

About the Role

This role is focused on creating compelling, audience-centered content that informs, engages, and inspires residents across the City's digital channels. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, production, and publishing of organic social media content, video, photography, and email communications that support City priorities and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a member of the team, you will play a key role in planning, creating, and publishing content across the City's digital channels. Responsibilities include:

• Create, edit, and publish engaging organic social media content across multiple City accounts.
• Produce video and photographic content from concept through completion, including planning, shooting, editing, and publishing.
• Develop and maintain content calendars to support corporate initiatives, programs, and campaigns.
• Create, review, and deploy email newsletters communications across multiple audiences and business areas.
• Monitor and manage social media communities, providing timely and responsive engagement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and develop storytelling opportunities that support City priorities.
• Support campaign measurement and reporting through analytics, trend monitoring, and performance insights.
• Ensure all content aligns with corporate brand standards, accessibility requirements, and digital best practices.
• Provide content creation support for special events, activations, campaigns, and emerging communications opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications

• University degree, College diploma in Communications or equivalent work experience in Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, plus a minimum of four years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience creating content for social media, email marketing, video, and digital communications channels.
• Strong storytelling, writing, editing, and content development skills with an audience-first mindset.
• Experience planning, capturing, and editing video and photography content for digital platforms.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices, including how content should be adapted for different channels and audiences.
• Experience with email marketing platforms and digital content publishing tools.
• Proficiency operating DSLR/mirrorless cameras and content creation equipment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously.
• Experience using analytics and performance data to evaluate content effectiveness and inform recommendations.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 38.90 - $ 51.87
