About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for 2 (two) Temporary full-time Knowledge Mobilization Coordinators to join our dynamic Knowledge Mobilization and Strategic Alliances team in our Innovation division.

The Innovation division is responsible for advancing safe, sustainable, and resilient blood system by identifying emerging threats and opportunities, generating new scientific knowledge, engaging stakeholders to improve clinical practice, and developing scientific and medical leadership.

Roles at a Glance:

Education Focus (Role 1):

You will facilitate the development, publication and dissemination of educational resources to support best practices in transfusion medicine and cellular therapies. Working closely with internal and external subject matter experts, you will coordinate the creation and maintenance of online courses, publications, and website content, ensuring alignment with instructional design and adult learning best practices. You will also monitor website performance and contribute to key knowledge-sharing initiatives, events, and partner communications. Research Focus (Role 2):
You will support the communication and dissemination of Canadian Blood Services' research activities and impact through the execution of the science communication strategy. Collaborating with internal and external subject matter experts, you will coordinate the development of science communication materials, including newsletters, blogs, research summaries, reports, and website content. You will also monitor resource performance and contribute to key knowledge-sharing initiatives, events, and partner communications.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your excellent interpersonal skills, your ability to prepare concise, clearly written content, and your creative capabilities for preparing visual and other media content, you will support the development and updating of resources for key knowledge users based on best practices in knowledge mobilization and identified needs.
  • Utilizing your strengths in communication and knowledge mobilization, you will coordinate the dissemination of publications and resources to target audiences.
  • Harnessing your ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines, you will lead the coordination of review and approval processes for knowledge mobilization resources to meet established procedures and timelines, as well as to ensure the engagement of contributors.
  • Applying your analytical skills and attention to detail, you will assist with the collection and analysis of data to support the evaluation of the impact of knowledge mobilization resources as well as the success of dissemination pathways.
  • Drawing from your skills in project coordination and time management, you will coordinate the scheduling of meetings, action item tracking, project timeline and deliverables tracking, as well as acting as the main point of contact.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree in science, health sciences or health promotion.
  • Three or more years of experience with knowledge mobilization and/or adult education best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint), website management (e.g., Drupal), and knowledge mobilization tools (e.g., Articulate Rise 360) is an asset.
  • Strong professional relationship building skills to interact with subject matter experts.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in preparing concise, clearly written scientific and medical content to different target audiences, including use of referencing software (e.g., Endnote).
  • Ability to create effective and accurate visuals for medical and scientific audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. French skills would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of transfusion medicine and/or the Canadian biomedical/blood research landscape is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at our head office in Ottawa on 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, 40% of the time/ 2 days of the week.
  • Travel within Canada for meetings or annual events may be required for this role on an as-needed basis.
