JOB PURPOSE :

The Producer Services Manager is responsible for leadership of the Producer Services team and the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan. This role is responsible for identifying and implementing improvements that will improve the financial results of the company and its members. This role is responsible for managing the 3P / Conestoga member / owner supply relationship and the team to ensure that plant production schedules and supply requirements are met.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS / ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for creation of the annual business plan and budget for the department
  • Responsible for departmental 3-year strategy development and implementation
  • Present monthly producer performance metrics to the Board of Directors
  • Analyzing plant performance data to identify and work with producers to improve their meat quality, herd health and animal husbandry practices
  • Based on experience, operational metrics and barn visit data, identify and implement opportunities to improve the financial results of the company and its members
  • Lead Producer Advisory Committee to review and make recommendations that improve the financial results of the company and its members
  • Using industry relationships, bring potential partnerships to the Producer Advisory Committee team for consideration
  • Lead and coach direct reports ensuring accountability for performance and development towards future growth
  • Participating in a cross functional team for the planning of weekend production and keeping our plant full throughout the year
  • Sourcing hogs outside of the membership when required
  • Communicating with Farmers, Barn team members, Operations, Board of Directors, and Industry experts
  • Participate and represent Conestoga at Industry events and shows
  • Hold members accountable to the rules and requirements of the co-op
  • Ensure compliance with our humane hog handling requirements
  • Manage the logistics of hog scheduling and delivery
  • Participate in industry teams to address things such as ASF preparedness
  • Recommend incentives or demerits to set clear expectations with our members and improve our hog supply

  • Attend regular 1 : 1 coaching / update sessions
  • Develop and review personal plans ensuring that it includes goals that support the key initiatives of the organization as well as personal development goals
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • University degree in Business or Agriculture
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years' experience leading a team
  • Experience leveraging data and technology to improve business performance
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic plans for a department
  • Demonstrated ability to be diplomatic, professional and adaptable in dealing with varied audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
