Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate

Location: Burnaby, BC | Full-Time, Permanent | In-Office

MatchBox Consulting Group is working with one of British Columbia's most established and respected real estate developers and property owners to find an experienced Property Accountant to join their growing accounting team in Burnaby.

We're looking for someone who knows commercial property accounting, takes pride in getting the details right, and enjoys working with people just as much as working with numbers.

Maybe you're currently with a third-party property management company and want to work directly for an owner. Maybe you've mastered the day-to-day accounting and want a company that will invest in your development, support your CPA, and give you somewhere to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial income-producing properties.

• Prepare CAM and operating cost reconciliations, tenant recoveries, and annual adjustments.

• Review commercial leases, rent rolls, tenant billings, and chargebacks to ensure accuracy.

• Maintain property and tenant information in Yardi.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reconciliations, and working papers.

• Support property budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.

• Work directly with property management, leasing, finance, and other internal teams.

• Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, and general ledger activity.

• Respond to tenant inquiries and help resolve accounting discrepancies.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and overall efficiency.

What You Bring

• 3–5+ years of experience in commercial property accounting, ideally with an owner, developer, or third-party property management company.

• A strong understanding of CAM reconciliations, tenant recoveries, commercial leases, and property financial reporting.

• Experience with Yardi and strong Excel skills.

• A solid foundation in full-cycle accounting, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.

• Strong attention to detail. You catch discrepancies, ask questions, and care about getting things right.

• An outgoing, approachable personality. You're comfortable picking up the phone, talking to property managers, and working across departments.

• The ability to manage deadlines, take ownership of your work, and communicate clearly.

• An accounting degree or diploma, with a CPA designation or progress toward one considered an asset.
