Introduction

Rural and Northern Child and Family Services Family Support Program has opportunities for casual Direct Service Provider positions. The services you will provide are intended to assist in restoring family functioning, ensuring the health and safety of participants, promoting opportunities for growth and development, and encouraging decision-making. Incumbents may also need to participate in network and systems meetings regarding case planning, facilitation and monitoring of case plans through skill development and liaising and providing written and verbal reports to the case management team. Duties : Working as part of a team or independently, the Direct Support Provider helps ensure the health and safety of the participant, supports their learning and development and provide caregivers with respite. They also help with day-to-day decision-making. Duties depend on the specific needs of the participant :

• Provide respite services for family and other caregivers
• Create supportive relationships with individuals and their family
• Provide supervision, companionship and personal care of the participant
• Promote the safety and well-being of the participant
• Implement behaviour support plans
• Assist, support and take part in community services and recreation activities
• Provide transportation to recreational outings and appointments
• Teach independent living skills (ex : self care, cooking, community access, budgeting and banking)
• Provides minimal to moderate personal care needsA detailed position description is available upon request.
