🏡 **LIVE-IN CAREGIVER / NANNY WANTED – AJAX, ONTARIO** We are seeking a kind, patient, trustworthy, gentle, and experienced live-in caregiver for our 78-year-old father, who has dementia and needs support with his daily routine. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys caring for seniors and can provide compassionate, respectful, and dependable care in a family home. ❤️ **Main Responsibilities** - Provide companionship, supervision, and day-to-day assistance. - Assist with personal care, including changing adult diapers/incontinence products. - Help with dressing, bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene as needed. - Prepare IBS-D-friendly meals according to his dietary needs and family instructions. - Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks; monitor meals, hydration, bowel movements, and daily routine. - Provide supervision and assistance if his mobility or physical needs change. He currently walks independently without a cane or walker. - Help establish and maintain a consistent bedtime and sleep routine. - Provide overnight assistance when needed. - Keep his bedroom, bathroom, and common areas clean and organized. - Perform laundry and light housekeeping. 🧠 **Dementia Care & Behaviour Support** Our father may experience confusion, fixation, repetitive thoughts, agitation, or resistance to care. The caregiver must: - Remain calm, gentle, patient, and respectful during difficult moments. - Handle agitation without arguing, yelling, intimidation, or frustration. - Recognize confusion and gently redirect him using reassurance, simple explanations, distraction, and repetition. - Encourage appropriate meal, hygiene, sleep, and daily-care routines. - Maintain his dignity and safety at all times. - Contact the family promptly for guidance or assistance. 👨👩👧👦 **Family Support & Communication** Our family is actively involved and readily available to support the caregiver. You will not be expected to manage difficult situations alone. The caregiver must regularly update the family about his daily routine, meals, sleep, bowel habits, mood, and overall well-being, and immediately report significant changes, including: - Mood, behaviour, confusion, or cognition - Appetite, eating, sleep, or bowel movements - Mobility, pain, discomfort, or personal-care needs - Falls, injuries, illness, unusual behaviour, or safety concerns 🍽️ **Special Diet** Our father follows an IBS-D-friendly diet. The caregiver should be comfortable preparing meals exactly according to family instructions, following dietary restrictions carefully, monitoring his response to foods, and reporting changes in appetite, digestion, or bowel habits. The caregiver is responsible for purchasing and preparing their own personal food and meals. 🌿 **The Right Person** The ideal candidate is: - Gentle, compassionate, patient, and emotionally calm - Trustworthy, dependable, and organized - Atleast 2 years experienced with seniors and dementia care - Comfortable with personal care and adult incontinence - Skilled at gentle redirection and reassurance - Comfortable preparing special-diet meals - A clear communicator who asks for guidance when needed - Someone who genuinely enjoys caring for an elderly person Previous dementia-care experience is required. 🤝 **Long-Term Opportunity** We are looking for a long-term caregiving relationship. Finding the right fit is very important. If the caregiver and our father develop a positive, trusting connection and the arrangement works well for everyone, we would be very interested in continuing the position long term. Our goal is to find someone who can become a trusted and valued part of our family. ⏰ **Schedule & Care Needs** This is a live-in position. The amount of hands-on care will vary depending on his needs each day. There will be periods when he is resting or independently occupied, as well as times when he requires direct assistance.
