We’re pleased to partner with BC Cancer Foundation in their search for a Director, Digital who is excited by the opportunity to lead a team of digital experts to transform BCCF’s digital capabilities, drive growth in donor acquisition and retention, and deliver meaningful donor journeys that inspire, engage and motivate audiences to action.

This individual will oversee digital product management, email marketing, paid search, SEO, web analytics, and consult on programmatic advertising, paid social and the digital content calendar.

About the workplace

This is a full-time hybrid role that requires working 3 days a week from the Vancouver, BC office after the initial in-office training period (4 weeks) is complete.

BC Cancer Foundation has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy requiring that all staff who work in any of our physical workplaces must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Considerations and reasonable accommodation can be taken upon request and will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

About the role

  • Articulate and gain organizational buy-in for a digital vision with the goal to scale online revenue and transform the online experience for core donor segments
  • Develop and manage a product roadmap for multiple digital properties, along with a supporting resource plan and budget
  • Collaborate with the marketing, communications and development teams on digital plans for large campaigns, identifying opportunities to test and achieve business goals
  • Lead the development of the email strategy, prioritizing opportunities to increase engagement and revenue
  • Identify technology, data governance, data management or business process issues that are barriers to success. Collaborate with data and technology project team to identify business requirements and develop a marketing technology roadmap
  • Understand and share digital strategy trends, best practices and benchmarks
  • Build, coach and develop a team of subject matter digital experts
  • Establish strong relationships with senior leadership team and internal partners
  • Manage external vendors, including web design, development and paid search
  • Track lead and lag performance indicators, pivoting plans when necessary to achieve business goals
  • Conduct deep dives into digital performance to identify and prioritize opportunities
  • Cultivate a culture of data-driven decision making and continuous improvement
  • Develop clear, prioritized action plans for the digital team and vendors
  • Support teams in identifying and solving technology, data or process issues
  • Identify content needs to support the online donor journey, as part of the cross functional content planning team. Oversee the effective QA and execution of content across the websites to ensure efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of all web content publishing
  • Establish and manage processes, with proactive resource planning, to drive efficiencies and ensure the team and vendor partners deliver on time, in full and on budget

The salary range offered for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes 5 weeks of paid vacation, paid time off over Christmas, participation in the Municipal Pension Plan, extended health, dental, paramedical coverage with 100% of premiums paid by the company, 2% incentive program and access to the Foundation’s professional development budget.

About you

  • 10+ years of experience in a role that involves digital product management, user experience, digital marketing and project management
  • 3+ years in a team leadership role
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, specializing in digital marketing, marketing, business or relevant
  • Strong business and brand acumen, understanding how the digital strategy can support business goals and brand strategy
  • Strong people management skills, with ability to build performance and growth plans
  • Solid understanding of UX principles
  • Outstanding analytics and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software including marketing automation platforms, website CMS, databases, HTML and Excel
  • Google Ads and Analytics experience
  • Strong project management experience with an understanding of agile methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with several teams and balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience using online fundraising tools and platforms, implementing marketing automation technology and / or using WordPress are considered an asset.
