The Opportunity
GBC is the perfect place for students looking to kick off their career by joining the Bank as a Summer Student. This is a unique opportunity where candidates will apply to a general posting, and through assessments and interviews, as well as considering candidates preferences and interests, will be matched with one of three various teams hiring Summer Students.
As an Operations Summer Student, you will be a key contributor on one of three various Operations teams including Credit, Customer Service, and Funding & Dealer Services. Students eager to shape the future of banking will find this opportunity highly rewarding. It offers significant potential for learning and growth, with the possibility of part-time employment following the summer term.
Summer Students will dive into the world of banking and finance to develop practical skills in areas such as financial analysis, customer service, credit adjudication, collections and administration. Gaining exposure to the dynamic and quickly evolving banking sector, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with seasoned professionals, broaden your network, and establish a solid foundation for a successful career in business.

Each Operations team offers a unique opportunity for students to explore different business lines and industries. We are dedicated to aligning students with roles that match their educational background, academic and volunteer experiences, and personal interests and preferences. This ensures a meaningful and cohesive experience for everyone involved.

Credit
The Credit department is dedicated to providing quick, reliable, and thoughtful adjudication of auto loans across Canada. This role will exercise sound judgment in applying credit policies and guidelines to ensure timely credit decisions that balance the banks risk appetite and growth. They will build strong relationships with dealership financial services managers, promoting sound business partnerships and reinforcing the banks commitment to reliable, high-quality service in the auto loan industry.
Customer Service
The Customer Service team at General Bank of Canada provides personalized, efficient, and expert support for auto loan inquiries through phone and email. In this role, they will be responsible for providing personalized and efficient support for auto loan inquiries through phone and email. This role requires a collaborative and solutions-focused approaches to help ensure seamless customer interactions and strengthen relationships, to reinforce the banks commitment to exceptional service.
Funding & Dealer Services
The Funding and Dealer Services team plays a key role in processing and reviewing retail auto loan documentation, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and funding loans with precision and efficiency.This role includes maintaining loan files, identifying inconsistencies in applications, and supporting dealership inquiries. You will also have the chance to support managing lien registrations, conducting searches, performing administrative tasks, and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and support the Banks culture of continuous improvement.
