The Role

We are seeking a Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to join our vibrant commercial team. In this role, you will underwrite both CMHC-insured and conventional commercial mortgages, ensuring compliance with policies while meeting service and performance targets. You will also handle credit tasks, administrative duties, and develop relationships with external and internal partners.

Core Responsibilities

1. Innovative Underwriting and Analysis (60%): Underwrite loans from $2.5 million to $150 million, ensuring adherence to lending guidelines and preparing recommendations that influence our business future.
2. Communication and Coordination (20%): Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to streamline processes and enhance customer service, ensuring timely funding.
3. Time Management (10%): Manage multiple deals efficiently, meeting all deadlines.
4. Administrative and Reporting (10%): Support the department with reports and administrative tasks that inform strategic decisions.

Candidate Profile

• Bilingualism is a plus
• 4-5 years of commercial mortgage underwriting experience
• Proven service excellence
• Post-secondary education in business or finance preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Deep knowledge of secured lending and commercial mortgage market
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for industry trends and networking
