Job Title: Sanitation WorkerJob DescriptionThe Sanitation Worker maintains a clean, safe, and organized food production environment while production lines are actively running. This role involves thorough cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and floors, handling cleaning chemicals and water, performing repetitive lifting, and occasionally supporting the packaging line. You will work in a fast-paced, cool-temperature facility and follow established sanitation and safety procedures to help ensure food safety and product quality.
Responsibilities
- Keep all areas of the production floor clean, sanitary, and well organized throughout the shift.
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of garbage and waste materials from the production floor.
- Use approved cleaning chemicals and agents to clean and sanitize floors, surfaces, equipment, bins, tools, and other contact areas.
- Stock and replenish sanitation supplies at designated stations around the production floor.
- Work safely in a cool environment with temperatures around 8–10 degrees.
- Operate and work around machinery and conveyors that are consistently running during the shift.
- Lift and move heavy items, including buckets of water up to approximately 35 kg and metal trays around 10 kg, on a repetitive basis.
- Learn, understand, and follow all sanitation procedures and protocols for cleaning and sanitizing equipment and floors.
- Operate cleaning and related equipment safely, adhering to all safety guidelines and lockout procedures as required.
- Wash and sanitize equipment, bins, and tools using the correct cleaning agents and methods.
- Maintain hygiene-focused areas such as footbaths and hygiene stations to ensure they are clean, stocked, and functioning properly.
- Ensure that the facility remains free of debris, spills, and other hazards throughout the shift.
- Assist on the packaging line as needed, supporting production demands while maintaining sanitation standards.
- Follow all food safety, quality, and personal hygiene requirements in a food manufacturing environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members in a multicultural environment to coordinate cleaning activities around ongoing production.
Essential Skills- Ability to stand, lift, and move continuously for an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs very repetitively in a work setting, with verifiable experience performing similar physical tasks.
- Comfort working in a cool environment at approximately 8–10 degrees.
- Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and water on a regular basis.
- Comfort repeatedly lifting buckets of water up to approximately 35 kg and metal trays around 10 kg.
- Good English communication skills to follow procedures, safety instructions, and interact with team members.
- Willingness and ability to wear steel-toe safety footwear for the full shift.
- Willingness and ability to wear safety goggles for the entire shift.
- Comfort working in a very multicultural environment and collaborating with diverse colleagues.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday on the second shift (approximately 2:00 . to 10:30 with flexibility for weekend coverage when needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food production environment is an asset.
- Prior packaging or production line experience is an advantage.
- Previous sanitation experience in an industrial or food facility is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with machinery and conveyors is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role is based in a busy food manufacturing facility with many conveyors and machines running continuously, creating a very fast-paced environment. The production area is kept at a cool temperature of approximately 8–10 degrees, and you will work around water, cleaning chemicals, and moving equipment throughout your shift. The culture is very multicultural, with team members from diverse backgrounds working closely together. The dress code includes steel-toe work boots, lab coats, hair nets, gloves, and beard nets if needed, with no jewelry permitted to maintain food safety standards. The schedule is Monday to Friday on the second shift, typically from 2:00 . to 10:30 ., with some flexibility required for occasional weekend work to cover operational needs.
