Description
Under the general direction of the E / I Superintendent, the Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of the mill Electrical / Instrument equipment, support systems, buildings, and services, ensuring maximum availability of equipment in support of quality and production.
Areas of Responsibility
- Establishes maintenance needs and priorities with the assistance of Maintenance Planners, Reliability Supervisor, and Area Supervisors to minimize production losses. Supervises the Planning and implementation of daily maintenance, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance. Reports on equipment failure and remedial service plans.
- Responsible for leading, directing, and controlling maintenance crews to ensure their daily planned maintenance objectives, safety performance, environmental compliance, government regulations, and insurance requirements are satisfied. .
- Monitors equipment condition, anticipates potential failures, and formulates solutions. Deploys project engineers to troubleshoot and form a plan then ensures tradesmen are deployed to perform needed work.
- Participates in recruiting, training, and development of Electrical / Instrumentation Personnel. Liaises as required with union representatives to resolve grievances. May sit on apprenticeship selection committee.
- Works with other Maintenance Department staff to develop area maintenance and capital budgets, prioritizes spending, and advise management on cost over-runs and extraordinary equipment restrictions.
