Job Description

This role focuses on MIG and TIG welding for custom metal fabrication projects in a dynamic job shop environment. You will interpret blueprints, prepare and fit materials, perform high-quality welds, and support related fabrication activities while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding as the primary welding process on custom metal fabrication projects.
• Perform TIG welding on materials ranging from 11 gauge to 22 gauge with attention to precision and quality.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and written work instructions to complete fabrication tasks accurately.
• Cut, fit, and prepare materials for fabrication and assembly using appropriate tools and methods.
• Operate spot welding equipment as required for specific projects.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards, specifications, and dimensional requirements.
• Grind, clean, and finish welded assemblies to achieve the required final appearance and functionality.
• Assist the Brake Press Operator with forming, bending, and material handling activities as needed.
• Measure and verify dimensions throughout the fabrication process to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures, including proper use of tools and equipment, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Support other fabrication and production activities as required to meet shop workload and deadlines.
• Lift and handle materials weighing 50 pounds or more in a safe and controlled manner.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of MIG welding experience in a fabrication or production environment.
• At least 1 year of TIG welding experience on materials ranging from 11 gauge to 22 gauge.
• Experience working in a custom job shop or production setting, with the ability to adapt to varied projects.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Understanding of fitting and fabrication principles and how they apply to welding and assembly.
• Proficiency in measuring and verifying dimensions to ensure fabrication accuracy.
• Capability to lift 50 pounds or more safely and repeatedly during the workday.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and finished assemblies.
• Adherence to workplace safety procedures and good housekeeping practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with spot welding is a plus.
• Willingness to assist with brake press operations, including forming, bending, and material handling.
• Interest in learning and working with advanced CNC machines and other fabrication equipment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a small shop team and support various production activities.
• Flexibility to work on different types of custom projects and adapt to changing priorities.

The standard shift runs from 8:00 . to 4:30 ., offering a consistent daytime schedule. The workspace emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork, creating a professional yet friendly atmosphere where you can focus on precision fabrication and welding.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
