We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to support day-to-day finance operations for a healthcare organization in Hamilton, Ontario. This Contract opportunity is well suited to someone who brings a solid foundation in accounting strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate financial records, support month-end activities, and contribute to reliable reporting across several locations.
Responsibilities:
• Process supplier invoices accurately and on schedule, confirm coding aligns with the correct general ledger accounts, and verify all required approvals are in place before payment.
• Administer outgoing payments across multiple sites, ensuring supporting documentation is complete, expenses are properly allocated, and organizational policies are followed for items such as petty cash, program funding, donations, and fundraising disbursements.
• Complete monthly bank and account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and maintain clean, balanced records across sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities by preparing journal entries, posting accruals, balancing accounts, and helping deliver reporting within established timelines.
• Prepare payment runs and direct deposit transactions for review and approval, while maintaining organized and accurate records of all financial activity.
• Track grant funding and related expenditures for third-party organizations to ensure claims and records remain complete and current.
• Work closely with external auditors by assembling audit support documents, preparing working papers, and responding to information requests during the annual audit.
• Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple programs and locations, maintain payroll records, reconcile payroll transactions to bank activity, and ensure statutory remittances are submitted on time.
• Reconcile credit card and store card activity, review vendor statements, and resolve billing differences, missing items, or account errors promptly.
• Provide day-to-day financial and payroll support to managers and staff, including ad hoc reporting and assistance with accounting-related questions.
