Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

The Undergraduate team provides administrative support to the Faculty of Education Undergraduate Programs across SFU campuses and external sites. We support students, faculty, and instructors by providing accurate information on courses, policies, and procedures; resolving complex registration and admission issues; and processing TSSU applications and instructional contracts. By enabling efficient program delivery and supporting student access and success, our team contributes to SFU’s academic excellence and service priorities. Our team culture is collaborative, responsive, and student‑focused.

About the Role

This role serves as a central point of contact for undergraduate students, providing high-quality, student-centered support across advising, registration, and program administration. The position ensures the smooth delivery of undergraduate programs by interpreting academic policies, resolving complex registration and admissions issues, and coordinating closely with faculty, Student Services, and external sites. By maintaining accurate student records, supporting grading and course processes, and contributing to communications and outreach, the role directly advances the Faculty’s priorities of student success, program integrity, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will play a key role in upcoming initiatives, designing and developing new strategic ways for scheduling, supporting program growth in the BGS programs, and strengthening data reporting for planning and decision-making. This is an ideal opportunity to contribute to an evolving, collaborative environment focused on improving the undergraduate student experience.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, reliable, and responsible professional who is accountable for delivering accurate and timely administrative support. They are resourceful, adaptable, and dependable, with strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Successful candidates are result‑oriented and capable of working independently, while also being collaborative and team‑oriented in a multi‑campus environment. They demonstrate sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong service ethic when supporting students, faculty, and instructional staff. The role requires a motivated individual who values accountability, continuous improvement, and contributing positively to team and departmental goals.

Qualifications

High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education or formal program equivalent including training in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing applications. 4 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced working knowledge of eTRACS, SIMS, FileMaker, and Microsoft Office 365, with the ability to use these systems efficiently to support academic and administrative processes.
  • Proven experience interpreting and applying the TSSU Collective Agreement, including advising staff and senior leadership on TSSU hiring policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high‑stakes priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across departments, while exercising sound judgment and responsibility in time‑sensitive decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the operational and institutional implications of missed deadlines, with a consistent record of delivering work accurately and on time.
