- Must be available to work Monday, Wednesday, and / or Friday between 2 : 45 PM – 5 : 30 PM.
This is a contract position from October 29, 2025 to June 19, 2026
BGC York Region Club serves children and youth in the York Region and surrounding communities, providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs. We are looking for motivated people to facilitate our after-school children’s program for the 2025-2026 school year for children ranging in ages from 6 - 13 years old.
Responsibilities
Promote the core values of BGC Canada and achieve its operating standardsImplement and facilitate effective physical fun activities, arts, science (STEM), and nutrition activities that engage learners and reflect the various learning styles of Club membersProvide participants with instruction on a variety of motor skills and physical activities designed to enhance the development of every participantSupervise after-school program participants in the program, and promote safety, respect, conflict resolution, leadership, and life skillsEnsure the safety and security of the participants in the programMaintain health and safety standards of food, and areas of food storage and preparationLiaise with parents / guardians on issues of concern or relevance to their childrenMaintain communication and close working relationships with local school administrators and post-secondary interns, and placement students’ supervisorsMaintain a professional relationship with peers, members, volunteers, parents, and members of the publicEnforce policies and procedures and initiate the discipline process when requiredEnsure weekly participant attendance is monitored and coordinate with the administrative staff to maintain accurate documentationOther duties as assignedQualifications
Educational background applicable to the position.Experience working with children is an asset.Strong skills in one or more of the following areas : sports, arts (dance, music, crafts, drama, etc.), recreation, science (STEM), tech, education, health, and nutrition.Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.Strong supervision and program planning skillsGood decision-making and problem-solving skillsCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (to be completed upon hiring)Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset)Safe Food Handlers (asset)A vehicle or reliable mode of transportation is highly recommended for this position.
