The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38000 provides services to students in 52 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties :

Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCW) work directly with students who are experiencing social emotional and / or behavioural collaboration with school and Board personnel the needs of the students are assessed and appropriate intervention plans are created implemented and supported. The CYCW may also be withdrawn from their regular assignment at one or more of their regular schools for an extended period of time to provide intensive support for a student in crisis as agreed between the school Administrator and the Learning Services department. The CYCW delivers programs in the areas of : bullying prevention self-esteem social skills conflict resolution emotion management either 1 : 1 or small group settings and on occasion in a classwide program. The CYCW liaises with school staff parents and community agencies to best support the child.

Minimum Requirements :

• Three (3) year Child and Youth Care Worker college diploma or equivalent (PhD in Psychology; post-graduate diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Autism & Behavioural Science);
• Minimum 2 years similar work experience
• BMS (Behavioural Management System) is a definite asset
• Courses related to autism studies are a definite asset
• First Aid Certificate is a definite asset
• Experience supporting students with autism and / or behavioural difficulties
• Experience using data to understand behaviour
• Have a reliable vehicle and a valid Ontario drivers license as travel throughout the Waterloo Region may be required

Hourly Rate : $34.93 to $36.76 per hour

Hours of Work : Permanent Full-time 40 hours per week

Work schedule determined by the Supervisor

Weeks / Year : Approximately 41 weeks / year

Location : To Be Determined and subject to change

(Itinerant staff are assigned to where the student needs are in the system)
