Job description
Looking for a fluent French or Japanese speaker to engage in play based learning for a young toddler. Tasks include playing, reading books out loud, describing the surroundings and activities, singing simple songs with gestures, and overall natural language exposure. Materials like books and toys will be provided, and parents will accompany sessions either in our home, park, library, or play centre (parents can either be in the room or elsewhere in the house). Location is in Meadowvale, Mississauga. Hours are for one hour per session, for 4-7 days a week depending on availability of both sitter and toddler. Times during the day are flexible, and number of hours per session are potentially flexible. This role is part-time occasional, for intermittent months or weeks at a time throughout the year. Must be available Sept-Oct 2026 (start first week of September). The important thing is that the child has fun and gets a long with the sitter. Qualifications: If French speaker, preference for accent typical of France or other Francophone regions outside of Canada. If Japanese, be a native speaker. Be warm, friendly, enthusiastic, and generally get along with the child No experience is necessary, willing to gently train and provide resources, kids books to read, and kids songs Rate is potentially flexible for the right candidate, based on previous ECE teaching experience and/or knowledge of early childhood language acquisition. We offer pay rate of $17.60 per hour. This position is ideal for someone with previous daycare experience or a love for working with young children. However we are willing to train for the right candidate, and also willing to offer a more competitive rate commensurate with experience. The ability to create a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere is a must. Highschool students are welcome to apply.
