Job Summary
The Climate Justice: Values and Vulnerability Lab (CJV²), is a collaborative research initiative to investigate how diverse coastal and sea-facing populations (past and present) relate to the impacts of climate change such as warming oceans and rising sea levels. Reporting to and working closely with Dr. Margaret Robinson, the Research Associate will support the researchers and research activities in CJV2, including supporting the development students.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive literature and subject‑area reviews, synthesizing findings, identifying gaps in knowledge, and managing references and citations.
- Support research project coordination by tracking timelines and deliverables, managing communications, organizing meetings, documenting notes, and maintaining project files.
- Assist with community engagement and knowledge‑mobilization activities, including media and communications support related to research initiatives.
- Provide support for student training and mentorship activities, as required, to facilitate effective participation in research projects.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s in a relevant field plus approximately three to five years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft office.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Attentive to detail with a high regard for quality, accuracy and organization.
- Self-directed and able to consistently take initiative and multi-task across more than one project.
- Experience with scientific writing, writing for general public, and experience with research ethics board applications.
Assets
- Experience in a research environment and the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS2).
- Experience organizing and managing small events.
