Job Title: Machine OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating woodworking and production machinery to manufacture high-quality components. You will read and interpret shop drawings and job instructions, measure and inspect materials, and perform machine setup, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance to ensure efficient and accurate production.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and job instruction documents to understand production requirements.
- Perform accurate measurements of materials using a measuring tape and other measuring tools.
- Identify and distinguish between different building materials such as MDF, particle board, plastic laminate, and other wood-based products.
- Examine materials for flaws and imperfections prior to processing to optimize material usage and minimize waste.
- Set up beam saws and other woodworking machinery according to job specifications.
- Operate beam saws and other production equipment safely and efficiently to cut and process materials.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain smooth operation.
- Perform routine machine maintenance in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow lockout procedures and other safety protocols when servicing or adjusting equipment.
- Use hand tools and saws to perform wood cutting and general woodwork tasks as required.
- Carry out general labor duties within the production and cabinetmaking areas to support workflow.
- Collaborate with team members in production stations and cabinetmaking areas to meet quality and productivity goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with workplace standards.
Essential Skills- Proven experience with machine operation in a production or woodworking environment.
- Hands-on experience with woodworking processes and wood-based materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings accurately.
- Proficiency using measuring tools such as measuring tapes and other precision instruments.
- Beam saw operation experience, including cutting, handling, and processing wood panels.
- Capability to set up, troubleshoot, and perform basic maintenance on beam saws and other machinery.
- Comfort working with hand tools and saws for wood cutting and general labor tasks.
- Strong attention to detail when examining materials for defects and ensuring quality standards.
- Understanding of lockout procedures and adherence to safety practices around machinery.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Forklift experience (SDCB) is an asset.
- Background in cabinet making or custom woodwork is preferred.
- Previous experience operating a variety of production and woodworking machines.
- Ability to work effectively in both production line and custom cabinetmaking environments.
- Reliability and consistency in following instructions and meeting production timelines.

Work EnvironmentThe work takes place in a well-lit, clean, and organized facility that is divided between production stations and cabinetmaking areas dedicated to custom work. The role involves working with woodworking machinery such as beam saws, hand tools, measuring tapes, and other production equipment. The standard shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Safety boots are required as part of the dress code, while additional PPE is supplied, contributing to a safe and professional environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
