INVISTA (Canada) Company’s Kingston Site located in Kingston, Ontario has an opening for a Process Engineer Intern. It is one of the city’s largest employers with over 700 employees dedicated to the production of quality products used in the automotive airbag, and engineering polymer industries. Our large production plant has a broad range of engineering applications from the upstream chemical processes such as reactors, distillation columns, extruders, etc to downstream spinning processes which use highly automated, mechanical systems.

As a Process Engineer Intern in our Kingston Site’s Spinning, Polymer or R&D Team, you will have the opportunity to create real value, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with an aim to improve and transform our manufacturing technology and processes for Nylon 6,6 polymers and high tenacity fibers.

This opening is for a 16-month term, starting May 2026 through August 2027. Salary range is $51,000 to $56,000 annually depending on experience.

What You Will Do
- Support experimental planning and execution by preparing materials, running lab- or pilot‑scale tests, and documenting observations with accuracy and clarity.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data, identifying trends and supporting the development of insights that guide product or process improvements.
- Participate in hypothesis-driven problem solving, helping define problem statements, propose potential causes, and contribute to experimental designs that test those hypotheses.
- Perform characterization tasks such as measuring material properties, conducting microscopy, evaluating mechanical behavior, or using analytical tools relevant to fiber or polymer systems.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers across R&D, quality, design, and operations to support ongoing projects and ensure timely completion of development milestones.
- Communicate results through written summaries, presentations, or technical notes that clearly convey findings, conclusions, and recommended next steps.
- Engage in continuous learning by building understanding of polymer science, fiber formation principles, structure–property relationships, and experimental best practices.
- Contribute to ideation and innovation efforts, offering fresh perspectives and assisting in early‑stage exploration of new materials, technologies, or methodologies.
- Support general laboratory operations such as equipment setup, routine maintenance checks, safety compliance, and inventory management to ensure a productive work environment.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Demonstrated initiative of a Principled Entrepreneur, who challenges the status quo, prioritizes based on risk and value, is solution-oriented, and meets deadlines.
- Currently enrolled in a University Engineering degree program, in 3rd year or higher (Chemical engineering degree program)
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights.
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
