The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $260 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, administrators, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.The Greater Victoria School District is currently seeking applications for a with the following qualifications:Legally able to work in CanadaGrade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training or experienceMust possess a Certificate of Apprenticeship in plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BC or a Certificate of Trade Qualification in Plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BCMust possess a Certificate of Qualification to perform the duties of a Class B Gas Fitter as issued by Technical Safety BC. A Class A Gas ticket would be an asset.Must possess a valid BC driver’s licenseCompletion of four or more years of specific experience in similar duties is requiredMust be physically able to perform all duties as noted in the Possess knowledge of personal computers, including current word processing, spreadsheet, database and facilities management software used by SD#61Must be able to work in adverse weather conditionsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a leadership role. Stakeholders could include principals, teachers, students, parents, office staff and facilities staff, etc.Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the publicCertification in backflow prevention devices would be an asset This continuing position falls within the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $37.90 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package upon successful completion of probation.
