Your Opportunity:
The incumbent: Consults with, and informs Physicians regarding client status, modifying nursing care plans accordingly. Coordinates service and provides nursing care, for assigned clients, at the level of a Nurse Practitioner. Performs comprehensive medical/nursing assessments and treatments, including (but not limited to) physical and cognitive evaluations; diagnosis and implementation of treatment; ordering and interpretation of diagnostic investigations ( laboratory and diagnostic imaging); authorization of medications (, palliative drug program, dementia treatment medications); prescribing home oxygen; and authorizing pressure gradient stockings. Authorizes medications in accordance with the Prescribing and Distribution guidelines set out by CRNA. Provides preventive and therapeutic health teaching to clients and families, encourages independence and assists clients with adjustments to limitations. Functions in a consultative capacity to support and compliment the Home Care case managers and interdisciplinary team to work to their full scope of practice.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Masters or PhD in Nursing required. Current, or eligible for, Nursing Practitioner permit to practice with CRNA. Eligible for a nurse practitioner practice permit conditional to CRNA receiving positive reference(s) based on 300 - 600 hours of nurse practitioner practice in Alberta to practice and use the protected title of Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Alberta, a person must be registered with CRNA as a Nurse Practitioner (CRNA registers Nurse Practitioners in one of three streams of practice). Applicants for CRNA registration as a Nurse Practitioner must have completed 4500 hours of registered nursing experience satisfactory to the Registration Committee and hold CRNA registration 2.
