Job description
The Langley School District is situated on the traditional unceded territories of the Matsqui, Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo First Nations. Reporting to the District Principal responsible for Career Education programs and under the general supervision of the Principal (or designate), the Career Advisor performs a variety of functions related to providing information and assistance to students making post-secondary education/career choices. The Career Advisor assists students in researching career and post-secondary information, industry training opportunities, work experience placements, and job-seeking skills. POSTING DETAILSPosition - Career Advisor Start Date - September 08, 2026 End Date - January 08, 2027 Schedule - Term Assignment, 21 hours per weekLocation(s) - VariedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSGrade 12 graduation and completion of a 6-month Career Development Practitioner Program or equivalent related education.One year of related experience.Good understanding of career development and planning processes.Ability to access and use career-related resources and education planning websites.Ability to use labor market information to meet students’ vocational needs.Good understanding of the concepts of employability and job search skills.Good knowledge of BC trades training.Good knowledge of post-secondary and training institutions.Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts.Ability to work as a member of a cohesive and collaborative team.Ability to organize and present information related to the career education program and career-related programs to a variety of groups and individuals.Ability to work with interruptions and to meet deadlines.Ability to effectively use computer software applications such as student information systems, word processing, presentation software, database management, and spreadsheets.For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included:Resume and cover letterCopy of your Career Development Practitioner certificationCopy of your transcript (official or unofficial) from your CDP programProof of high school graduation (or completion of other post-secondary education)Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, former supervisors from your most recent/relevant role)PLEASE NOTEIn accordance with the Criminal Record Review Act, successful applicants will be required to consent to a Criminal Record Check prior to employment.
