The Advisor, Centre for Accessibility Services (CAS), is responsible for ensuring academic accommodations are provided to students with disabilities in accordance with Ministry of Advanced Education articulated guidelines and the Duty to Accommodate.
The incumbent interviews current and prospective students to assess barriers and determines and implements appropriate academic accommodations. The Advisor maintains detailed and accurate records through an online case management platform according to ethical standards and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) regulations.
The incumbent supports students in developing their self-advocacy skills in communicating with UFV instructors, faculty and staff as needed. The Advisor, CAS, manages student crisis situations and provides appropriate referrals to internal and external support services.
