Job Summary
The Live Event and Media Production team delivers a diverse range of festivals and events throughout the year. Based primarily at Meadowvale Theatre, Paramount Fine Food Centre, Celebration Square, and the Living Arts Centre, you will take a lead role in driving event setup and technical operations across each venue. Working within a larger team, you will contribute to all aspects of event execution while guiding crews to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery. This role provides hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and supports the continued growth of your technical and leadership skills in a fast-paced live event environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and staff to ensure all event and production requirements are met, providing solutions to technical challenges and escalating when required.
- Coordinate and lead production crews through setup, operation, and changeovers, ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule.
- Configure, test, and supervise the operation of production systems (audio, lighting, video, cameras, communications, etc.) to meet event requirements.
- Review production documentation and develop clear operational plans for execution, including adapting to varying environments and safety considerations.
- Oversee all on-site production activities to ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality event delivery.
- Identify potential hazards and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff across technical disciplines while supporting team development.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, documenting issues and reporting as required.
- Complete event and maintenance reports to support ongoing operations and continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with a specialization in a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in live event or production environments.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or team lead role within production.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as required.
- The successful candidate must possess a valid Standard First Aid and CPR C (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) certification (must be recognized by WSIB) by your start date.
- Working at Heights and aerial lift training considered an asset.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $23.35 - $31.13
Hours of Work: Up to 44 hours per week
