About the Role:

TheCo-op Transition Advisor plays a pivotal role in enhancing student success by helping develop and implementing comprehensive strategies to improve co-op students’ retention and engagement at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels. TheAdvisoris responsible forcollaborating with various University academic and administrative departmentsandservicesto create a supportive and inclusive environment that encouragestudentprogressionand success through their co-op journey.

TheCo-op Transition Advisorwill:

  • Manage the year one (1) internal co-op replenishment strategy including promoting to eligible students, developing and updating admission rubric, assessing eligibility and onboarding new admits for a seamless transition into co-op;

  • Provide individualized support to co-op students to ensure they are on track with both their co-op and academic progression and sequence;

  • Conduct regular case conferencing with SWAC to review co-op students with special needs and/or accommodations needs;

  • Foster partnerships with on campus partners (, Academic Advisor, SWAC, Brock International, Student Affairs, Learning Services) for early intervention and support to co-op students’ success at Brock;

  • Identify and provide guidance and support to co-op students facing challenges and barriers, connecting them with appropriate resources and services;

  • Act as the lead person for all student recruitment events for Co-op (, OUF, Open Houses, Smart Start, etc.);

  • Lead the development of year one (1) co-op student engagement strategy including events, programming, marketing and outreach;

  • Oversee the planning and execution of our outreach to incoming co-op students, Co-op Kick-off event, program specific onboarding sessions and co-op celebration events for all currently enrolled co-op students;

  • Oversee and supervise the student staff to carry out communication and marketing plans to enhance co-op students’ engagement including regular newsletter and Co-op-on-the-go booth;

  • Identify and integrate co-op student success stories and testimonials into communication and marketing collaterals (, websites, social media posts, publications, presentations, etc.);

  • Provide regular report on student retention trends, identify at-risk populations to help measure the effectiveness of the retention initiatives;

  • Stay current and proficient with various technology platforms such as DB Brock, Sakai, CareerZone and Office 365 suits (, Teams, Planner, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); and

  • Manage content creation and update to Co-op website and marketing collaterals focusing on students engagement.

This position may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for events or operational needs.

KeySkills andExperience:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Psychology, Communication, or Education;

  • Completion of Mental Health and First Aid training;

  • Experience with co-op programs and/or academic advising or student affairs

  • Knowledge of the Brock University co-op experience andunderstanding of the course calendar, course offerings, program requirements, prerequisites, and course sequencing for co-op programs;

  • Knowledge of applicable University rules and regulations, and departmental policies ( University Academic Accommodations for Students with Accessibility needs Policy);

  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint databases, web applications,BrockDB, and social media platforms/content creation tools ( Instagram,Linkedin, Canva, etc.);

  • Patience, empathy, compassion, and understanding with the ability to communicate sensitive informationor feedbacktactfully and diplomatically;

  • Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to build credibility quickly and maintain long-term relationships;

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships at all levels of the University and with diverse student populations;

  • Strong active listening,communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;

  • Proven ability to organize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines, and schedules simultaneously and independently in a fast-paced environment; and

  • Innovative, flexible, and adaptable with a commitment to teamwork and integrity.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • A background or experience in counselling or psychology field.

SalaryandTotal Rewards:

  • Job GradeK, Salary Scale ($61,286-$99,384);

  • Target Hiring Range:$61,286 -$63,000*
