Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing retail organization.

The Senior Accountant will report directly to senior leadership and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing retail business. This is a hands-on position that combines full-cycle accounting with process improvement initiatives, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening accounting processes, optimizing ERP functionality, and supporting the continued growth of the organization.

Must Haves

• CPA designation

• Previous accounting experience within a retail or inventory-driven environment

• Hands-on experience using Oracle NetSuite ERP

• Experience with inventory accounting, reconciliations, and inventory count processes

Nice to Have

• Experience with ERP implementations, system enhancements, or automation initiatives

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

• Experience with POS and inventory management systems (Shopify experience is an asset)

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Experience strengthening internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting processes

• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or providing guidance to an accounting team

• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while providing guidance and support to the accounting team

• Manage daily cash reconciliations, bank deposits, and revenue reporting across multiple business channels

• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations

• Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions

• Review and reconcile vendor invoices, expense reports, purchase orders, and packing slips using three-way matching

• Coordinate payment runs while ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained

• Manage warranty claims, vendor credits, and return reconciliations

• Lead the month-end close process, including reconciliations and financial reporting

• Prepare and remit GST, PST, and other statutory filings

• Support external accountants during year-end and audit processes

• Provide financial and administrative support to senior leadership as required

• Optimize Oracle NetSuite functionality and identify opportunities for automation and system improvements

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting

• Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting procedures

• Improve invoice matching, expense management, and reconciliation processes

• Support inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, and inventory count processes

• Enhance freight, purchasing, and supplier reconciliation procedures

• Develop stronger Accounts Receivable tracking and collections processes

• Collaborate with purchasing and operations to improve forecasting, reporting, and financial visibility

• Identify and implement technology-driven process improvements to improve efficiency and scalability
