Summary
Reporting to the Inventory Manager, Inventory / Material Handler is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels to support efficient production and operations. This role ensures that all materials are correctly received, stored, issued, and recorded in the system. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience with inventory management systems in a fast-paced manufacturing / production environment. This will be on-site role reporting to our Bedford, NS facility
As an Inventory / Material Handler, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) :
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular data entry, audits, and reconciliation in the MRP system.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and components for quantity, quality, and accuracy against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Ensure all received materials are properly labeled, tagged, and stored in designated inventory locations according to established procedures.
- Perform routine cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies.
- Investigate inventory variances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Planning and Purchasing to address shortages, overstock, or obsolete items.
- Issue material kits to the production floor in alignment with work orders and production schedules, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of components.
- Track all material movements, transfers, and adjustments in the inventory management system.
- Maintain clear labeling and proper storage practices to ensure traceability and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Receiving, Planning, and Production teams to ensure seamless material flow and operational efficiency.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to transport items safely throughout the facility.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, storage efficiency, and material handling processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and organizational policies in all inventory activities.
What you require to be successful in the role :
