Building Operator
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Building Operator to join an established commercial property management client of ours in Ottawa.
This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits and paid vacation.
This position is a mobile role for their Ottawa area portfolio, candidates must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid 'G' class drivers license.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of commercial office, retail, and warehouse spaces, addressing service-related issues for both internal and external customers.
- Manage and coordinate staff and subcontractors, including designing and implementing training schedules for new personnel.
- Administer service contracts for janitorial, HVAC, landscaping, and other essential services, while also overseeing external security measures.
- Conduct regular inspections of building safety and systems, including HVAC, electrical, and security systems, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
- Respond to emergencies such as fire, floods, and power outages, including after-hours emergencies on a rotational basis.
- Investigate and manage insurance claims, coordinating with adjusters and insurance companies for property restoration.
Qualifications and Skills
- Building Environmental Systems- Operator Class 1 & 2 or SMT or Stationary Engineer 4th / 5th Class or equivalent.
- 5 years experience in a Building Operator or Building Maintenance role within Commercial or Industrial Properties.
- Strong knowledge of Building Systems, Life Safety, and Emergency Procedures.
- Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills.
- Valid 'G' class drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Ability to obtain a Federal Reliability Security Clearance is a must for this position.
