Overview
The Network Administrator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and secure operation of all network-related activities at the mining site. This position is responsible for maintaining robust and efficient network systems, implementing industry accepted cybersecurity measures, and ensuring seamless data communication and management. The administrator will proactively address network challenges, safeguard sensitive information, and contribute to the technological advancement of the mining operations, thereby supporting the overall success and safety of the mine.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1 – Oversee and maintain network infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable network infrastructure including WANs, IT and OT networks.
- Manage the backup of critical configurations and ensure redundancy integrity and availability.
- Perform regular system checks, troubleshoot network issues, and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime in a mission-critical environment.
- Proactively identify opportunities for system improvements and optimizations. Implement changes that increase efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance the security and reliability of the network.
Area 2 – Champion risk identification and mitigation
Implement, develop and manage a robust NIST driven cybersecurity framework to protect sensitive network integrity against potential cyber threats.Develop and implement emergency response plans for network failures or cyber incidents.Perform audits on least privileged access for operations.Perform regular system checks, troubleshoot network issues and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime in a mission-critical environment.Ensure and report KPI on reliable connectivity and network efficiency.RMA and regular maintenance needs are performed on all the equipment to ensure resilient network.Area 3 – Innovation and continuous improvement
Evaluate new technologies, upgrade framework to enhance network performance and security.Continuously assess emerging network technologies and software, evaluating their potential benefits and applicability in enhancing the mining site's network infrastructure.Proactively identify opportunities for system improvements and optimizations.Implement changes that increase efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance the security and reliability of the network.Conduct pilot tests for new technologies and systems. Evaluate performance and gather feedback before full-scale implementations.Seek and implement best-in-class practices.Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve network administration processes, technologies and methodologies used for Cote Gold.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To HavesBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.5 or more years of experience in network administration.Role is Sudbury office based. Travel to site once per month will be required.Cisco CCNA certifications.Proficiency in network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Reporting aptitude to clearly articulate problems and solutions.What We Offer
