Position Title: Purchasing Manager
Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager will lead and oversee all purchasing activities to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of materials and services for our operations. This position supervises a team consisting of two Buyers, balancing daily purchasing operations with strategic purchasing initiatives.
Given the wide range of products involved – from raw chemicals to laboratory consumables and electrical measuring instruments – this role requires strong supplier management, contract negotiation, and problem‑solving skills in an international environment.
The Manager will also be responsible for ensuring professional, respectful, and transparent communication within the team, with suppliers, and across departments. An essential part of this role is implementing and maintaining daily performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2 Buyers, ensuring efficiency, growth, and accountability.
- Oversee day‑to‑day purchasing operations, including purchase order creation, stock level review, lead time updates, and ETA responses to internal stakeholders.
- Support strategic, high‑value projects, ensuring timely and compliant supply of materials and services.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Service, Logistics, and Engineering to align supply chain strategies with business needs.
- Implement, monitor, and report on daily KPIs to track performance and compliance across the department.
- Ensure proper ERP data accuracy and reporting (SyteLine knowledge is an asset; SAP expertise strongly preferred).
- Promote a respectful, solution‑oriented work environment and effective communication across all levels.
- Stay informed on market trends, supplier performance, and risks to anticipate and mitigate supply chain challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in Procurement or Purchasing, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills with international suppliers.
- Experience in manufacturing, ideally in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or laboratory products.
- Experience in implementing and monitoring KPIs for operational performance.
- Solid knowledge of ERP systems (SyteLine is an asset; SAP expertise strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
- Bilingual (English and French) required.
- Availability for occasional travel as business needs require.
