Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking someone like you for the role of Quality Coordinator to support our organization in achieving and maintaining excellence in our Quality Management System (QMS). In this role, you will support APL departments in meeting standards for laboratory accreditation. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the province to ensure compliance, assessment readiness, and continuous quality improvement. You bring sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse and remote teams. Key responsibilities include supporting departments with standardization initiatives, as well as the Quality Management System. The APL Quality Department is a provincial department with members located across the province. As such, work location and hybrid work arrangements may be negotiable.
Description
Reporting to the Quality Lead, the Quality Coordinator works with a high degree of independence to coordinate and implement provincial quality programs and processes. The position works collaboratively with operational areas to implement and maintain the APL Quality Management System while ensuring the specialty needs of assigned programs and / or disciplines are met. Tasks associated with this role include (but are not limited to) coordination, delivery, support, and maintenance of APL’s Quality Management System (QMS), process and procedure development, and providing guidance to disciplines and programs on accreditation and legislative requirements. This position plays an active role in supporting standardization activities and may also support process improvement initiatives.
Position Details
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA). Minimum of three (3) years’ experience within the last five (5) working in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
Additional Required Qualifications
Experience in Quality Management System activities such as proficiency testing, competency assessment, non-conforming event reporting, internal and external assessments, and document management. Minimum two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft 365 suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams). Recent (within the last 5 years) experience engaging with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent (within the last 5 years) experience leading or participating in process improvement projects. Quality Management System Certificate or equivalent post-secondary education or experience in Quality Management Systems. Process Improvement Certification (e.g. AIW Green Belt). Change Management certification (e.g. ProSCI ). Project Management certification.
