As a Strategic Legislative Analyst you will play a key part in supporting readiness and delivery of the 2025 General Election. You will be responsible for coordinating the activities that enable Calgarians to cast their vote. Projects include Election Day and Advance Vote stations, mail-in ballots, and special voting opportunities ( at care facilities and shelters). This work will include change management, project management, and planning high quality, innovative service delivery strategies. Primary duties include :
- Coordinate the voting stations and special voting opportunities to ensure that facilities, workers and supplies have been confirmed.
- Develop the intake, distribution and collection process for mail-in ballot requests, as well as organize the equipment and software for this service.
- Ensure all voting opportunities align with legislation, corporate standards and sector best practices.
- Lead projects and project teams using best practice project management methodologies.
- Identify service and process gaps and lead process reviews, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Incorporate accessibility and inclusion strategies that remove barriers to voting.
- Develop and deliver training to election clerks.
- Provide supervision and / or direction to employees and vendors.
- Develop effective working relationships and collaboration with a variety of partners, both internal and external.
- Support change management strategies, including communications plans, training, and documentation.
Qualifications
A degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Geography or a related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in research, data analysis, consultation, project management and report writing.Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.Ability to think strategically with well-developed analytical skills.Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels in a large organization.Self-directed with the ability to work independently and effectively lead multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.Experience working in local government and election operations will be considered an asset.Experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation (such as the Municipal Government Act and Local Authorities Election Act) will be considered an asset.Success in this position requires strong communication skills, adaptability, the ability to build partnerships, facilitate change, and a high attention to detail and stress tolerance.
