NAIT’sPlumber program will prepare students to install and service plumbing systems,fixtures, piping equipment and controls for transporting water, waste, gases orhot liquids. Students will learn toprepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation,how to install underground storm sanitary and water piping systems, and receivemore experience with finishing work, such as installing sinks, tubs and toiletsor more specialized task like installing water conditioners or hydronic heatingand chilled water systems.

Theprogram is currently recruiting for a temporary instructor who is an energeticleader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication,interpersonal and organizational skills.

Thesuccessful candidate will :

Have strong technical knowledge

Be able to work both independently and within a teamenvironment

Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that willpositively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and theculture of our collaborative and dynamic team

KeyResponsibilities :

Prepare and present learning outcomes and activitiesin a classroom, virtual, laboratory and industry setting

Participate in curriculum development, program reviewsand course reviews

Facilitate the learning process by utilizinginstructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of coursematerials

Manage instructional delivery and set the tone andclimate for a safe and effective learning environment

Create assessment tools to evaluate the learningprocess and maintain progress records

Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring forstudents to maximize student success and retention

Respond to student issues

Utilize appropriate educational technology forpresentations, communications and program promotions

Maintenance and / or submission of program / studentrecords accurately and promptly

Maintain professional and ethical relationships withstudents, colleagues, and industry partners

Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’sStrategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute

Utilize regular student feedback to identify andimplement instructional improvement

Improve the quality of instruction throughprofessional development activities

Other duties as assigned

Skills& Abilities :

Excellent interpersonal Skills

Strong desire to help students succeed

Excellent communication skills

Strong knowledge of computers and accessories

Qualifications : High School Diploma

Completion of Plumbing Alberta Journeyman certificateor provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required

Minimum 5 years recent industry experience aftercompletion of Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent.

Additional relevant post-secondary education and / orprofessional development training

Teaching experience preferred

Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration :  Instructorsalary grid $34.48 – $59.98 per hour. However, starting salary for new hiresaverages between $41.76 – $45.41 per hour, based oneducation and experience with room for negotiations.

Will commensurate with education and experience,plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays. (Classification –Instructor).

Thisposition is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) CollectiveAgreement
