JOB TITLE: Food Service Worker (Dietary Aide)
JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of duties such as portioning and serving meals, preparing nourishments and beverages, washing dishes and utensils, cleaning and sanitizing tables, work surfaces, carts and wagons.
Reports to the Director of Food and Support services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up meal trays with items such as condiments, utensils and napkins; portion out food and beverages on meal trays according to menu, loads, delivers, collects and unloads meal service wagons.
- Portions out and serves food and beverages within a dining room
- Makes beverages and food items such as tea, coffee and toast. Assembles items such as sandwiches and salads.
- Strips, racks and washes items such as dishes, pots, pans, utensils; operates dishwasher; stacks clean dishes and utensils
- Sets, clears and cleans, sanitizes dining tables
- Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and damp mopping floors, cleaning, sanitizing counter tops, sinks, machines and equipment’s, spot washing walls and splash area
- Removes garbage, food scrap wastes and dirty rags and clothing protectors to appropriate areas in the basement
- Answers the phone, writing information in the communication book and verbally communicating the Info as needed for especially for residents diet changes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
