Job Description
BTG Energy is a growing Canadian energy company supported by experienced industry professionals and a dedicated operations team.
We are currently seeking an Experienced Gas Plant Operator to join our team at our Sylvan Lake Gas Plant . The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant operating experience and will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and integrity of facility operations. This position involves safely operating and monitoring critical plant equipment, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with all company safety and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform Control Room operations including equipment starts / stops, directing, and coordinating work, troubleshooting, and managing emergency response procedures.
- Safely operate and conduct general maintenance on sour gas compressors, amine systems, refrigeration equipment, and other pressure equipment.
- Prioritize daily workload and effectively manage contractors on-site.
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents in accordance with company policies.
- Work with the Lead Operator / Foreman to identify maintenance or process requirements; assist in planning and developing preventative maintenance procedures, schedules, and facility upgrades.
- Conduct day-to-day operational activities and identify optimization opportunities that enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency while reducing downtime.
- Complete production operations reporting (SCADA, Prodview) as required.
- Maintain compliance with BTG Energy safety standards and environmental and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
4th Class Power Engineering Certificate or Fired Process Heater Operator certification.Minimum of five (5) years of gas plant operating experience.Preference for experience with condensate stabilization, treaters, amine sweetening, dehydration, NGL fractionation, compression systems, fired heaters, and product storage.Previous operating experience in gas processing or compressor station facilities is considered an asset.Valid safety certifications including H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Expectations
Complete all required BTG Energy training for the Sylvan Lake Gas Plant.Adhere to Alberta Energy and Alberta Boilers Safety Association regulations as outlined in corporate governance policies.Participate in all corporate health and safety programs.Work overtime as needed to support vacation or coverage requirements.Work rotating 12-hour shiftsMaintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas (office, facility, field, compressor stations).Compensation
