Founded in 2016, Amplify Capital is an early-stage venture fund focused on backing companies using transformational technology to solve today’s biggest impact problems. Headquartered in Toronto and with an office in Montreal, Amplify Capital manages 3 funds, $100M in assets and specializes in climate and health startups. We invest early in founders turning hard science into real-world progress, and we have backed companies such as Hydrostor, Planetary, Future Fields, ThinkLabs, Pathway (acquired by Doximity), Valence (acquired by Recursion), and Carbon Upcycling.
We are actively investing out of Fund III, writing $750k–2M cheques as lead, co‑lead, or high‑conviction follow‑ons across North America. Our belief is simple : Canada produces outsized innovation relative to its population, and many of the most important companies of the next decade will be built here and scaled globally. Our job is to show up early with conviction, judgment, and real partnership.
We are hiring two Associates to join our investment team. Both roles share the same core mandate, with room for each person to lean into different strengths over time.
The Role
This is a true Associate role focused on investing, diligence, and firm‑building. You will work directly with partners on evaluating companies, shaping investment theses, supporting portfolio companies, and building the visibility and influence of Amplify across your local ecosystem and the North American startup landscape more broadly.
You will help turn conviction into decisions, decisions into investments, and investments into long‑term outcomes.
How We Think About Venture
The best investors are students of startups and investing.
They study markets, sectors, trends, products, and business models. They care about why companies win, not just what they do. They understand that most markets have been played before, that patterns repeat, and that history leaves clues.
We are looking for people who are deeply curious about :
You should be deeply curious and enjoy learning for its own sake. You should like forming opinions, testing them, and changing your mind when the evidence proves otherwise. You should be an optimist about startups and the founders who pour their souls into building them, while being intellectually rigorous and honest about risk.
This role is best suited to people who are optimistic about the future and genuinely energized by new ideas. If that's not how you’re wired, it likely won't be a strong fit. We love what we do and feel lucky to get to do it.
Our values are ambition, respect, and rigour. They guide how we show up with founders, work as a team, and make investment decisions.
