Sign Language Interpreter

These positions will work in a team environment to facilitate language expression and comprehension using American Sign Language, tutor students, adapt teaching materials, compile and update student records, and monitor student behaviour. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of Grade 12 Graduate of an accredited interpreter training program Previous experience interpreting in an educational setting an asset At least six (6) months experience working with Deaf students with language delays Strong interpersonal communication skills Willing to work collaboratively as a member of the IEP (Individual Education Program) team Consideration will be given to candidates who are also fluent in ASL-French language interpreting These casual and/or 10-month permanent positions (27.5hrs / week) offer a wage rate of $48.00 per hour as well as a comprehensive benefits plan, including extended health and dental care, and participation in Municipal Pension Plan. Successful applicants will be required to complete the District's Health & Safety training and consent to a Criminal Record Check.
