Location : Various locations across  Alberta​

As aBuilding Department Manager / Director, you will oversee and manage theoperations of the building department to ensure compliance with building codes,regulations, and safety standards. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring theefficient operation of the department and the successful execution of buildingprojects within the jurisdiction. KeyResponsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the building department, including supervising staff, overseeing departmental operations, and ensuring effective performance.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the review and approval of building plans, permits, and inspections to ensure adherence to local codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other municipal departments, agencies, and stakeholders to address and resolve building-related issues and facilitate project approvals.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Provide leadership and support to department staff, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Prepare and present reports, budgets, and recommendations to municipal authorities and stakeholders regarding building department activities and initiatives.
  • Stay informed about changes in building codes,regulations, and industry best practices to ensure departmental practices areup-to-date and effective.
