Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Student's area of responsibility will include the following daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment, grounds maintenance , weed gardens, clean eaves trough, window and exterior building cleaning, painting and general housekeeping, facility and equipment maintenance duties as required and as directed by the Maintenance and Facilities Manager or their representative. At this time the position will only provide services at the County’s Paramedic stations or locations outside the Administration Centre.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a registered full-time post-secondary student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
  • Enrolled in building operations or architectural technology / technician, carpentry and renovation techniques or project management school program an asset.
  • Proven knowledge in building maintenance and repair.
  • Flexible with willingness to learn new tasks, multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must have a Valid Class G License and will be required to complete a brief road test in the service vehicle utilized
  • Must have completed a criminal reference check from within the last 6 months.
