Summer Student - Finance

Summer Student - Finance

The Regional Municipality of Durham is currently recruiting students for summer student employment for 2026 in our Finance department.

The successful student will :

• Assist with daily and monthly transactions related to bank deposits
• Investigate and address problems for returned mail and update case management systems as necessary
• Coding and reconciliation of transactions to the financial system
• Compile daily summaries of receipts and prepare necessary entries for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable
• Update and maintain accurate client records in multiply case management systems
• Assist in clerical and general accounting duties
• Analyze and reconcile invoices to data in systems
• Possibility of face-to-face customer interaction and first point of contact
• Gather and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Assist in preparing account reconciliations and reconciling financial variances
• Assist in the processing of capital asset depreciation, asset disposals and revaluations
• Assist with the closing of Purchase Orders
• Assist in documentation of financial procedures and the creation of standardized reporting templates
• Assist with projects as assigned
