Senior SQL Database Administrator

Our team has an opportunity for a Sr. Database Administrator who will work amongst a team of professionals and play an integral role in the overall growth of Moneris' business.

You will be primarily accountable for researching, designing, implementing, and administering database solutions in a complex and highly available environment.

Location : You will be based in our Burnaby office and will work in a Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship : You will report to Manager, Platform Support.

Salary Range : $89,800 - $120,000

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

• While supporting an array of complex production and non-production databases, take a collaborative and strong service-oriented approach and displays, analytical and technical skills
• Proactively develop and implement policies and procedures to improve overall effectiveness and integrity of our databases and systems.
• Proactively performs database monitoring, optimization, performance tuning, and database maintenance and testing
• Designs and develops complex Microsoft SQL environments and database models with application support teams
• Perform extensive analysis of database entities, relationships and attributes Implement large scale data migrations
• Works effectively with supporting network, server, and disk storage teams to facilitate managed balanced systems
• Applies data modeling, data design and implementation to support business requirements and drive the organization forward
• Rotational on call is required for the role in support of 24 / 7 critical environments.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / IT or a related field of disciplines
• Minimum 7 years of practical experience within a MS SQL DBA capacity, with knowledge of SQL Server administration, implementation, and optimization
• 5+ years of experience in database design, development, and implementation, with significant experience in designing and administering a large complex SQL environment
• Extensive experience with MS SQL Server (tables, triggers, unions, joins, complex queries and stored procedures)
• Strong experience in the physical and logical design of database architecture
• Experience in managing clustered SQL environments utilizing mirroring, availability groups, FCI and log shipping
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server
• Fluency with appropriate tools including SQL Management Studio, Query Analyzer, Profiler, Performance Monitor and other SQL Server management tools as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to collaborate and deliver results cross functionally.

• Experience with payment systems and the merchant acquiring business
• Intermediate competency in Azure Cloud, database development and modelling
