Job description

Do you have experience in shipping and receiving and in driving a forklift?

We are looking for an experienced shipper and receiver with relevant prior experience and good attention to detail!

Who :

Our client is the technical leading company in their business, with a global reach, and is looking for a shipper receiver to join their dynamic team. This role has a great manager with opportunity for growth as the company has a lot of exciting growth going on through acquisitions globally. Their proprietary product was developed many years ago and continues to be a growing success for various development companies. Truly global organization, this company has many exciting projects underway but also a down to earth group that is tight knit.

What- the Role :

This is a Full-time permanent position for their day shift Monday to Friday 7-3pm. 20% is in office and 80% is on the production floor.

Production floor-based duties include :

  • This position is expected to stage, wrap, label and move pallets of dry powdered cement around the warehouse. The warehouse is small with tight areas so efficiency and safety is extremely important.
  • The position will be loading raw materials and other materials from incoming trucks / containers as well as loading finished goods into trucks / containers. Applicants must have a valid forklift license with a minimum of 3 years of this type of experience.
  • This is a physically demanding job and includes wrapping and moving of finished goods onto and off pallets. This will include lifting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal instructions is important. The job requires keeping track of lot numbers, weighing and labelling product.
  • Employees are required to wear steel toed shoes and dust mask.

Office based duties include :

  • Preparing shipping documents using MS Office (Word, Excel & PDF) and making phone calls to schedule shipments including tracking.

    • Who- the Candidate :

    The ideal candidate is someone coming from a production environment with hands on experience in shipping and receiving, including the use of computers and MS Suite products as well as experience in driving a forklift.

    Qualifications include :

  • 3 + years experience in a manufacturing and warehousing environment.
  • Computer skills essential using MS Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Employees will be driving forklift, so license is preferred but 1-2 years driving is mandatory.
  • Candidates must have reliable transportation and live in the lower mainland. Not accepting candidates relocating from outside the Vancouver area.
  • Must be able to sign a strict NDA agreement as this position will be exposed to trade secret information.
  • Must be trustworthy, reliable and committed and able to work un-supervised.
  • No specific trade skills needed. Everything will be taught using on-the-job training.

    • Where :

    Richmond based full-time in plant.

    How Much :

    Competitive full-time hourly compensation plus benefits and bonus after probationary period. Range includes a target of $23 an hour but will look at candidates ranging from $23-27 an hour.
